Family Counselling

Family counselling emphasises family relationships as an important factor in psychological health. It is delivered to families, including children, who face challenges in their familial relationship. These include parenting challenges, trauma and abuse, family stressors, adjustments to separation, divorce and blended families. Our counsellors can act as mediators, so everyone has a chance to voice their issues. Counselling offers clients an opportunity to discuss their concerns, clarify what would be helpful, and strengthen their ability to make the desired positive changes in their lives.

Family counselling is not the same as individual counselling because of the difference in the approach that the counsellor uses. The counsellor takes the view that the entire family is a system and that an individual is best understood within this context. The family is a living system and change in one member causes changes in all the other parts of the family system.
